    Sitting in my robes as I write this post, savoring a warm cup of coffee, I can only think of the past few weeks of interaction with the rest of humanity. Is there something wrong with all of you, or am I just losing my grip on sanity? Well, I know I'm a little mad, but these days who isn't?

Evil in Modern Horror

       When I think of horror, of what truly makes a good scary movie, the only thing that comes to mind is the Disney classic Fantasia, specifically the Night on Bald Mountain. The monstrous demon that emerged from that mountaintop was, bar none, the most terrifying creature I had ever seen in my life at the time. As I’ve grown older, and seen more things, I still remember that evil figure and the terror he instilled in me that, to this day, I strive to feel once again. What can compare to this literal archetypal figure, modeled after centuries of contrived thoughts of how demons could behave?

Ghost Tales and Zombie Hordes

Ghosts and hauntings seem to have taken a backseat to zombies and vampires in the box office as of late, with record numbers pouring into the cramped darkness of a theater to see the walking dead feast on the living. Don’t get me wrong, there are plenty of ghost stories as well, and they tend to be just as good if not better than the monster movies; it just seems to me that the monster movies are the ones people talk about for longer periods of time after their release than with ghost stories.
